If you are a string player who has difficulty turning pegs in your instrument you might consider buying W. E. Hill and Sons Peg Compound.
I bought mine few years ago and I use it every time I change strings. I simply take each peg out of the peg box and smear this compound along the length of the peg.
It is very important step. Smooth turning pegs will help you tune your instrument much easier and will prevent damaging your instrument by turning the pegs that are stuck.
Do you clean off the excess after application?
