Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin

Thank you Mr. Andrew Baker from Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin for sending me a set of his beautifully hand crafted Leatherwood Bespoke Rosins.DSC_0003

I had a great pleasure testing both rosins (crisp and supple) for the past few weeks and I just love it!

Crisp rosin (VNC) allowed me to achieve very clear articulated tone with just a right amount of “bite” which is very important to me.

I love the fact that my bow was not loosing the traction in fast passages and at the same time I was able to transition very easily into a slower more melodic section of music without sounding too harsh.

Supple (VNS) blend on the other side helped me to create much warmer and even tone. I felt like I was able to achieve very well balanced sound.

I really enjoyed the clarity and smoothness in fast and slow passages without hearing much of a surface noise.

Both rosins share very similar qualities but only very advanced professional players will most likely notice the difference and appreciate the high quality of the Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin.

I truly enjoy using both rosins and I had a very hard time picking my favorite one.

Mr. Andrew Baker suggested to mix them both on my bow. Why didn’t I think about it?!?

First I mixed supple rosin with crisp on top, then on my other bow I mixed crisp rosin with supple on top.

The second variation was the winner! Beautiful, clear even tone with just the right amount of added crispy articulation.

Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin is one of the best rosins I have ever tried. It is hand made in Australia from the Australian pine resin as well as a mix of international resins that can be custom blended to fit your needs.

Beautiful wooden casing as well as an incredibly soft Australian deer leather wrapping gives this rosin very organic feel.

I love the slim rectangular shape of this rosin. It gives just enough room for your bow to glide.

I also appreciate the fact that Leatherwood Bespoke Rosin doesn’t produce an excessive amount of rosin dust. This rosin is so powerful that you will only need a swipe or two to discover the most incredible clear velvety sound.

I have been looking at Leatherwood rosin and have yet been able to decide on “Crisp” or “Supple”. After your comments I might just have to suck it up and buy one of each!
